Alumni Update: Mariel CaballeroSemester Studied at Casa: Spring 2002 University Name, Year Graduated: Santa Clara University, 2002, B.S. Political Science, Minors: Anthropology and Music I staff Santa Clara County Supervisor Blanca Alvarado on the Public Safety and Justice Committee of Santa Clara County, which she chairs. I also handle Legislative and women's issues for her. Supervisor Alvarado is the driving force behind Juvenile Dentention Reform in Santa Clara County, which focuses on providing juvenile detention alternatives to youth and adressing some mental health, social and educational problems that may be the root of juvenile crime. I currently serve as the President of the Board of Directors of the Latina Coalition of Silicon Valley and I am a member of the Board of Directors for the Santa Clara County Unit of the American Cancer Society.
