Alumni Update: Sue Sullivan
Current Work / Volunteer position: Still studying, good old student Update: Right now, still have one more year to go. The transition back has been one to remember. Can't say things are easy, but it is great to know the groups where you belong. I went to the School of the Americas (SOA) event, which might I add was SPECTACULAR!! S.O.A. is march/vigil, but it’s a gathering of like-minded people who are unified in the same mission particularly the Ignatian Family Teach-In. The protest was sad, sad remembrances of sad realities that exist in our world today, but a feeling of peace to know we are in this together. It's like the Casa, we're in this together, and it doesn't matter what level we're at, etc, but we are in this juntos para adelante to improve our world making it better for our children, who are to come after us. At SOA/ Ignatian Family Teach-In, there were many Casa alums, yeah sorry Casa Romero '04!! I know!! I missed the pictures AGAIN!!!! I'm sorry!! Really, I didn't realize you guys were taking the picture!!! Really! For this semester, I still sing in the University Chorale of Boston College. We had three sets of concerts this semester that were awesome. We sang "Carmina Burana" - it's a pretty cool piece if any of you like the classical music. [You may hear it in old Viking movies]. I am a teaching assistant for a class called "Courage to Know," it's a class though the First Year Experience, here at BC. It is a class for freshman students, the focus primarily is on the transition for freshman from high school to college and the meaning of being a student at a Jesuit University. The focuses of the class vary according to the professors. Our class has a focus with nature of what is our relationship to nature? What does that tell us about our Spirituality and us as a person? It's been a wonderful class, very interesting. I think it's a great and very important program to have for freshman students making the transition from high school to college. It's a different stage in life. It's certainly a fun class!! I plan to do Appalachia Volunteers for Spring Break. There isn't a day where I don't think about the CASA, the people there. My life is so different. Like Chris said, "adjusting back to home could be a part - time job" itself. There are growing pains yet at the same time a resilient joy and I need to keep remembering this. Then there's also planning for next year. So there are a lot of things going on. So, experiencing senior year, trying to discern what will be for the next year. We shall see. Ok, well, Hope all you are well! Keep it Real! Keep the Faith! Remember: It's GOOD to be ALIVE!! - and that IS something! : )
