Fall Quarter Program

Starting Fall 2009, the Fall Program in London will include two options: A) an internship emphasis and B) a Peace & Conflict Resolution. Each option includes academic coursework geared towards the central core of each option. The internship option is weighted towards the first seven weeks of the term, and the internship being the focus for the second eight weeks with a week break in between. In keeping with Santa Clara's commitment to educated solidarity and service to the global community, the Peace and Conflict Resolution focuses is on multi-cultures and matters of difference related to religion, gender, race, ethnicity and socio-economic class. A large part of the study includes field visits, workshops and peace memoranda, exposing students to global conflict scenarios and peace through mediation.

Winter Quarter Program

The Santa Clara Winter Quarter program provides unique opportunities for research, study, and academic travel. Students will choose either the British Life and Culture or the International Research path. The curriculum consists of one required and two elective classes. In addition there will be a study tour of England and Scotland including Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh, and others. Students also have the option of an individual research travel component depending on the course of study selected. As with all study abroad programs, courses may be used to major, minor, and University core requirements. All scholarships and financial aid are available for study in London.
This is a program to accommodate athletes not a program exclusively for athletes. Winter 2009 Dates

Spring Semester Program (Winter & Spring Quarters)

The Winter/Spring 2009 term is a semester length program based upon the standard Santa Clare-FIE curriculum. A basic component of the program is the community-based learning internship placement. Placement opportunities include private sector firms, government agencies, and non-governmental cultural and service organizations. The program schedule allows for maximum concentration on the elective classes during the first six weeks followed by an eight week immersion in the placement accompanied by the internship supervision class and the capstone British Life and Culture course.

Summer Internship Program

The London Summer Internship Program enables students who wish to participate in an internship in London. Students will start their London experience in the British Life and Cultures course to introduce them to the British culture and academics. The internships will start the second week of the course for 8-10 weeks. Internship placement opportunities include private sector firms, government agencies, and non-governmental cultural and service organizations.
