Santa Clara has reciprocal exchange relationships with a number of international universities.  Participants can fulfill major, minor, core, and other graduation requirements, eligible to apply 100% of their SCU financial aid towards tuition and program fees, maintain their enrollment status at SCU while abroad, and receive the same quality advising services at SCU. Direct Exchange Programs offer the best type of full immersion experience. Highly recommended for students who wish to improve their language skills, experience studying with local students while only paying SCU tuition.

These direct exchanges allow a higher level of direct immersion and independence, as our students usually swap places with a student from one of our exchange schools. Students from the exchange university come to SCU, while our students enroll for a year or a semester overseas directly into the host university. Participation in an exchange program requires a higher level of language proficiency in most of the exchange schools. Search Programs

Affiliated program options usually include two models of program experiences: 1) “Island Programs” involve placing American study abroad students into Study Centers overseas and teaching them a variety of courses in the American system. Usually there are no local students taking the courses offered in these study centers so students the immersion experiences happen outside of the classroom in homestays or social settings. Some providers do enable students to take 1-2 courses in local universities. 2) “Direct Enroll Programs” place American students directly into local universities.
