Syracuse offers year or semester-long opportunities for study abroad and maintains academic centers in France, Hong Kong, Italy, and Spain. Programs in Madrid, Florence and Strasbourg include homestays with local families, and as such are some of the most popular programs for Santa Clara students. The Hong Kong program is excellent in Management & International Business, as well as East Asian Studies.

There are no language prerequisites to apply to a Syracuse program because there are options for students at every language level, from beginner to advanced, and language study is required at all levels. Students can take courses at Syracuse centers in English or the host country language; intermediate and advanced language students have the further option to combine classes offered at the center with study at an affiliated university (Options II and III in Spain, Italy, and France). Each center has close ties to local universities, allowing students to design integrated programs of study appropriate to their academic and language abilities.
