Latin America : Argentina : Buenos Aires

What does it mean to be a woman in Argentina? How are indigenous people and immigrants treated? Explore major identity issues during this Summer Gender and Ethnic Studies program. Students will observe Argentinean cultural leanings with their own eyes, and meet with researchers, activists, and key players in current civil and political movements. Plus, students will learn about current identity theories, cultural realities, and belief systems in Argentina and, through observations and analysis, put them to the test.

Latin America : Argentina : Buenos Aires

This program provides an opportunity for a student to improve their Spanish in Buenos Aires ? the Paris of Latin America ? as students explore the culture, politics, and history of Argentina. On this program, students take courses in Latin American studies or a language course, interact with Argentines, participate in student clubs and interest groups, volunteer in libraries or community centers, and travel throughout Argentina.

Latin America : Argentina : Cordoba

THIS PROGRAM IS CURRENTLY SUSPENDED. LMU's signature program in Latin America is located in Córdoba, Argentina. The first LMU study abroad program directly reflecting the Jesuit values and our institutional mission, "Casa de la Mateada" engages the Ignatian ideal of "well-educated solidarity" on all levels from the types of courses offered to the ways in which students are housed and engage with one another and with host country citizens. In LMU's "Casa de la Mateada" program, you will spend a semester immersing yourself in the complex social, political and historical realities of Argentina, learning to accompany those living on the margins, and challenging yourself to grow and develop as a person for others.

Latin America : Argentina : Cordoba

The Santa Clara University exchange program in Cordoba allows students to take courses at the Universidad Catolica de Cordoba. All coursework is conducted in Spanish and courses are available in engineering, business and arts and sciences. The university was founded in 1956 and was the first private university in Argentina and is the only Jesuit Argentine university.

Through this program students can study a wide variety of disciplines, taught in English or Spanish at the IES Abroad Buenos Aires Center, and also have the opportunity to take selected classes at local partner universities. The Santa Clara University exchange program allows students the opportunity to directly enroll in any of the six ACU campuses (Sydney (2), Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, and Ballarat). The North Sydney campus provides coursework in business and management, business information systems and environmental sciences. The Strathfield campus focuses on arts and sciences, education, social sciences, counseling and social work, theology and philosophy, and visual arts and design. The Melbourne campus provides coursework in arts and sciences, business, education, English language, media communication, social science, theology and philosophy. The Brisbane campus focuses on arts and sciences, business, education, English language, exercise science, nursing, physiotherapy, psychological science, social science, counselling and social work, and theology and philosophy. The Canberra campus focuses on education, nursing, social work, theology and philosophy. The academic focus at Ballarat is in education, nursing, theology and philosophy.

The School for Field Studies (SFS) Tropical Rainforest Studies study abroad program in Queensland, Australia, provides exciting opportunities for students to study and work hands-on in rainforest management and restoration in the country's tropical rainforest. Student research will focus on the loss and fragmentation of once extensive rainforests and examine environmental policies related to the issue on local and national levels. SFS staff and students, in collaboration with local landholders and stakeholder organizations, focus on enhancing the condition of tropical rainforests and determining ways to regenerate and restore the rainforest on the Atherton Tablelands. Students live in cabins in a rainforest field station.

NEW SCU PROGRAM STARTING FALL 2015 - This program allows students to study the culture, history, business, and politics of a region that continues to play a major role on the world stage. Students can also enroll in an internship or field experience, which includes time spent working at a placement site in addition to an academic seminar that helps students contextualize what they are learning.

The IES Abroad Vienna Music Program is specially designed for Music students and offers a wide-ranging and academically rigorous Music curriculum coupled with unique components such as the Music Performance Workshop. Area studies courses in a variety of disciplines are also available in conjunction with the European Society & Culture program. Previous German language experience is not required to participate. Students take courses in communications, international relations, and Belgian culture at Vesalius College, the international English-language college in Brussels. Internships with local institutions and organizations are available. One French or Dutch language course is required. Instruction is in English.
