Latin America : Ecuador : Quito and other locations

The University of Minnesota's Ecuador: Quito-International Development and Internship program allows students the opportunity to study one of the following tracks: art and cultural studies; health; ecology; education and literacy; or micro finances and social services. The program puts students in direct contact with the social and economic realities of actual communities and of people working within them to address complex problems. Through classes, field trips, internships and research, the program strives to establish a continual dialogue linking experience with theory and critical analysis. The MSID curriculum explores the theoretical and practical implications of international development and intercultural issues. Field experience is an integral part of all courses. Latin America : El Salvador : San Salvador

Casa de la Solidaridad offers students the unique opportunity to develop relationships with the Salvadoran people as they learn about the political, social, and economic realities of the country of El Salvador. During the program, students are immersed and become a part of a marganlized Salvadoran community, they take rigorous program courses at the University of Central America (UCA) and immerse themselves in the Spanish language. Students live in community which allows them to reflect on their experience through spiritual and communal support. Program recommended for major(s)/minor(s): Sociology, Spanish

Latin America : El Salvador : San Salvador

The summer program focuses on health care and public health in El Salvador and provides students with a unique opportunity to integrate direct immersion with people living in poor communities (praxis sites) and academic study. This intensive program will focus on what the health problems are in El Salvador, why the country has these health issues, and how they are being handled from both a medical response to disease and public health programs, which try to reduce the frequency of disease before people need medical care. Students participate in two academic courses: Health Care and Public Health in El Salvador (approved for ELSJ at SCU) and either Advanced or Conversational Spanish. These courses are designed to intentionally integrate students? experience in their praxis site with the academic discipline.

Students will earn 12 semester hours of credit for this 8-week study abroad program at the University of Cambridge. Students are able to choose from a wide range of courses including Writing, Sciences, Economics and Finance, Business and Management, History, English Literature and Linguistics, Law, Education and Anthropology, Philosophy, History of Art, Architecture, Film, Politics, and International Relations.

The Fulbright Commission Durham University Summer Institute is a four-week cultural and academic programme for US students held at Durham University in the UK. The theme of the institute is The Northern Borders of Empire to the Making of the Middle Ages. Students will participate in a major archaeological project focused on the northern edges of the Roman Empire in Britain playing a full part in the excavations and gaining first-hand knowledge and experience of UK archaeological professional practice.

The Fulbright Commission-University of Exeter Summer Institute is a four-week cultural and academic programme for US students held in London and at the University of Exeter in the UK. The theme of the institute is Leadership, Sustainability and the South West.The four-week Institute includes a seven day "Fulbright Week". It will be followed by three weeks where Fulbright Summer Institutes students will integrate with the others on the University of Exeter?s International Summer School. Fulbright Summer Institute students will join one of eight credit-rated pathways.

The Fulbright Commission American Institute for Foreign Study Summer Institute at Shakespeare?s Globe Theatre is a three-week cultural and academic programme for US students. This programme focuses on both acting and understanding Shakespeare texts and the students? studies are supplemented by workshops focusing on combat and sword play, movement, dance and design. Students will also have the opportunity to watch performances at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre and take part in a question and answer session with the Globe actors.

The Fulbright Commission King?s College London Summer Institute is a three-week cultural and academic programme for US students held at King?s College London in the UK. The theme for the Institute is Learning, Inventing, and Reinventing: The British City, Past and Present. Located in the very heart of London the courses have a strong academic focus and are taught by tutors from King's as well external tutors from other institutions to ensure high quality teaching across all disciplines. Using London as a classroom?, students are exposed to a wealth of history and culture through museums, galleries and tours throughout London.

The winter quarter London program is operated by Santa Clara in partnership with the Foundation for International Education (FIE.)It provides students unique opportunities for research and study with or without the internship component. Winter Quarter Students will enroll in 3 out of the following 4 electives, in addition to the required course (British Life & Cultures)- with 4 quarter credits each: Fundamentals of Finance (FNCE 121) Civilizations: Islam and the West (RSOC 22) Media in Britain (COMM 199) London Internship (INTL 119). International Internship Course (IIC) seminars would accompany the placements- with 4 quarter credits

The Fulbright Commission Nottingham Trent Summer Institute is a four-week cultural and academic programme for US students held at Nottingham Trent University in the UK. The theme of the institute is Creativity, Culture, History and Heritage. Follow a creative course in subjects that include architecture and model making, fine art, graphic design, immersive design, fashion accessories, decorative technology, journalism and broadcasting, museum and exhibition curating, and writing.

FIE offers a summer internship program for students that combines an internship placement with classroom seminars and written reflection. Students are also required to take a British Life and Cultures course. All coursework is completed at the FIE Foundation House.
