Dear Students,
This is further clarification of the email communication on January 21, 2009 regarding the Associate Program status for Antioch, Gonzaga in Florence, and the Semester at Sea programs.
Associate Program participants will receive Santa Clara University credit and can fulfill major, minor, or core credit with these classes providing the usual approval process is followed. As with other transfer credit, you will need to receive a grade of “C” or better. Courses not approved for major or core credit will be considered electives and will count as units meeting the graduation requirement. These units will be listed as transfer credits and will not affect your SCU grade point average. The grades will not be recorded on your SCU transcript, only the courses.
Grades earned in regular term Associate programs do not count towards the SCU grade point average. However, the grades earned abroad do become part of your personal academic history and overall higher education gpa. Receiving transfer credit means that if future jobs, graduate programs, etc. request academic transcripts, in addition to your SCU transcript, you will need to contact, Antioch, Gonzaga, or the University of Virginia (Semester at Sea), for a copy of these grades.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Barbara Colyar
Director of Study Abroad
