Congratulations on your approval to apply to an approved study abroad program. At this point you should…
1) Be very familiar with all your responsibilities (application, transcript, academic planning sheet, deadlines, tips) in Step 3: Apply: http://scu.edu/studyabroad/applying/index.cfm#apply
2) RSVP for a Group Apply Session to turn in your application and meet other students who are applying to the same program-location. Check our upcoming events page for your session and be sure to click on the “RSVP for this event” to secure your spot: http://www.scu.edu/studyabroad/workshops/index2.cfm You need to bring all the application documents to this event.
3) Know that we will NOT accept incomplete application packets so make sure you use the program-specific application checklist to gather all required documents (e.g. photos, transcript, recommendation, language assessment, etc). You can find links to the program- specific application checklist on our website: http://www.scu.edu/studyabroad/applying/forms.cfm
4) Know that if there is no Group Apply Session for your program-location, then you can walk-in at the International Programs Office (Kenna 110) anytime between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday. The Peer Advisor on duty or I need to review your application packet with you before accepting it.
5) Know that we are NOT responsible nor will we process applications that are dropped off at the office without any Peer Advisor or staff’s reviewing it for completion with you.
6) Be aware that submitting your applications after your deadline week will lessen your chance of getting accepted to a program. There are a lot of students who are on the Second Priority list (late petitions) who will be considered for the same program when spots open up. Your failure to meet your responsibility may open up your spot to a student on the Second Priority petition list.
7) Know that the Academic Planning Sheet for the Drahmann Center has no specific deadline. You do NOT have to submit it the same time as your program-specific application packet. You do need to have it done and signed by your academic advisor.
8) Feel free to contact us at the office if you have any questions.
