I wanted to alert you to International House (I-House), the newest on-campus housing option which opens Fall 2009. Lodged in Swig Hall, 5th floor, as a special-focus floor within CyPhi RLC in partnership with the Study Abroad Office and the International Student Resource Office, I-House will be both a physical residence and a way of global engagement which is interdisciplinary and informed by the Swig RLC’s focus on sustainability and the arts. While embedded in Swig Hall, International House is intended to serve a broad campus constituency looking for a “learning community” interested in globalization, constructive engagement in the world, and educated solidarity with those most in need.
If you know any current Freshmen who may be thinking about studying abroad in the 2010 – 2011 academic year, please forward this to them as this RLC would be ideal for them. We are working with the Housing Office to see how this might work for students studying abroad in the Fall and returning to on-campus housing in the Winter.
