Campus Sustainability Day

This fair showcases ways in which students, faculty, staff, and friends of the University can get involved on- or off-campus and support local vendors, businesses, and causes that are committed to environmental stewardship, education, and service.


Mission Sustainable Challenge

This month-long challenge calls people to learn, pray, act, assess, and advocate in the various areas of sustainability. Serving as a "busy person's retreat," it encourages the community to reflect on the spirituality of sustainability and act on our values.


Graduation Pledge

This pledge for graduating seniors asks them to define what it means to be socially and environmentally responsible in the workplace. There is no obligation to turn down is simply a way to ensure that a job represents more than a paycheck.



RecycleMania is a friendly, ten-week competition and benchmarking tool for colleges and universities throughout the US and Canada. This tournament motivates schools to reduce their waste, increase recycling efforts, and educate further about waste generation.


Residence Energy Challenge

Campus residents aim to reduce their energy use! The residence halls that use the least amount of electricity (as compared to its historical use, adjusted per capita) or have the the most enthusiastic residents in energy conservation will be awarded prizes!


Eco-Fashion & Art Show

Students, staff, faculty, and alumni are encouraged to design and create outfits made of recyclable or waste materials as an educational tool about the influence and impact of the fashion industry.The audience has fun, learns about products and alternative (re)uses.


Swap for Good

This on-campus clothing exchange seeks to serve the needs of local community organizations, such as the women and children of the local Home Safe shelters who would benefit from the accessories and apparel collection, and raises awareness about reuse and recycling.


Sustainability Champion Awards

This awards celebration publicly acknowledges champions (faculty, staff, student, group, collaborative project, and current Sustainability Liaison) who have embodied sustainability in their work, activities, and life throughout the year and have been a significant leader and agent of change on the campus.


Move-Out Waste Diversion 

During a stressful and hectic Finals Week, SCU has implemented programs to provide easy options for responsible recycling and donations. In the last four years, students have diverted over 20 tons of material during the move-out process.


Summer Series

These behind-the-scenes tours of various campus initiatives give a chance for SCU employees to learn, explore, and get involved with SCU's sustainability programs.
