Director, Office of Sustainability
Lindsey Cromwell Kalkbrenner
I develop, coordinate, and implement programs related to sustainability at SCU. I also serve as a “clearing-house” for sustainability data and “know-how” on campus and at peer institutions. I am responsible for engaging students, staff, faculty, and alumni to promote and develop environmental stewardship, education, and outreach programs on campus and in the community. One of my primary goals is for every SCU student to graduate with a culture of sustainability.
I supervise our amazing student interns - one of my favorite parts of this job! Our interns are responsible for most of the ongoing projects at the Office of Sustainability. I am constantly amazed by these students' creativity and the quality of their work.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in biology a Master of Business Administration, both at Santa Clara University. I recently served on the Leadership Board of the SCU chapter of Net Impact, a global network of leaders who are changing the world through business.
After finishing my undergraduate studies in 2004, I was an Education Specialist at a marine mammal facility where I educated participants about marine animals and conservation. I also played with dolphins! I joined the University staff in February 2006 as the Sustainability Coordinator, and was promoted to Director in 2010. I enjoy my work and hope to continue using my business knowledge and experience in the field of sustainability to continue to work with educational institutions and businesses.
