Sustainability Intern,
Reporting and Assessments

Richard Jaramillo

During this internship, Richard will augment the University's existing greenhouse gas emissions inventory as well as gather data to develop a comprehensive report of sustainability initiatives at SCU. Richard communicates daily with staff, faculty, administrators, and students across campus to compile and synthesize information. Richard uses tools such as Clean Air-Cool Planet’s Campus Carbon Calculator and is compiling and submitting data for the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education's (AASHE) Sustainability Tracking and Rating System (STARS) pilot project.

"I was attracted to the Sustainability Internship because I have become increasingly interested in environmental stewardship," said Richard. "As I walk around campus, I've envisioned ways that SCU could be more sustainable. I applied for this position because I realized it would be a great opportunity to really contribute to the greening of SCU. I am excited to learn more about sustainability."

Richard's current career plans include teaching English in Latin America and eventually returning to the U.S. to teach. He plans also to be a professional photographer and guide wilderness expeditions. Richard is the Vice President of the Ski & Board Club and works with Campus Ministry.
