Santa Clara University is a Charter Signatory of the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment. We developed a Climate Neutrality Action Plan in 2010, and have a goal to achieve Climate Neutrality by the end of 2015.
Santa Clara University has numerous programs to support and enhance diversity on campus. These include financial aid, support programs for under-represented groups, as well as training opportunities for students and employees. The University also values its employees and has a number of programs to support and enhance life as a University employee.
The Sustainability, Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) is administered by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). Santa Clara University was a Charter Participant in the first STARS program. The University earned a Silver rating in January 2011.
SCU makes an effort to preserve its cultural and historical heritage by conducting archaeological excavations around the Mission Church area as well as other areas on campus. The Archaeology Department and Research Lab attempt to protect and preserve the integrity of the area's multifaceted and culturally diverse history, while the de Saisset Museum showcases SCU's unique historical legacy.
