  •  Summer Hours

    Monday, Jun. 30, 2014
    New summer garden and volunteer hours are on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9-11 am.

    New drop-in volunteering/ garden hours this summer are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9-11 am. For volunteer groups larger than five, please arrange in advance via theforge@scu.edu. Come when you can, leave when you need to! All staff, faculty, community members, students, clubs, and organizations are welcome to attend.

    Visit, volunteer, meet friends and learn new skills. Produce is available at the weekly Friday Farm Stand from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. 

  •  Backyard Composting Workshop (July 23rd)

    A workshop all about the science and management of compost...you'll receive hands-on practice of building your own compost pile!

    Details: Learn how to build and manage your own compost pile using your garden waste, food scraps, and more. Learn about worm composting, and how to build and maintain your worm bin. This workshop will cover basic science behind composting, but will focus on the technical, hands-on practice of compost management. Come prepared to learn and work!

    Topics include:

    • What is the best style of composting
    • How to build and maintain your compost pile
    • What materials can be composted

  •  Worm Composting Workshop (July 12th)

    An educational and interactive workshop about red wigglers...Come prepared to touch worms and learn how to turn kitchen garbage into gardener's gold!

    Details: We will learn all about vermicomposting with compost worms - aka red wigglers, and how to create an ideal environment for your worms and your food scraps. Worm composting is often considered the most effective way to turn your garbage into gold (gardener's gold that is). This will be an educational and interactive workshop - come prepared to touch worms! We have active worm bins on display and several available for you to take home.

    Topics include:

    • What is worm composting
    • How to set-up your worm compost system
    • How to feed and manage your worms
    • How to harvest, sort, and use worm compost

  •  Farmstand Fridays

    Sunday, Apr. 13, 2014
    Produce stand every Friday, from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. Freshly harvested vegetables and flowers and all grown at the Forge Garden. Great selection of weekly produce and seedlings all year round!
