  • Climate Neutrality Action Plan

    Tuesday, Jun. 23, 2009

The SCU campus community is invited to review the draft version of SCU's Climate Neutrality Action Plan, created by the Office of Sustainability and the University Sustainability Council.

Climate neutrality will involve aggressively reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and offsetting what is left, with the long term goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions. This plan sets target dates and interim milestones for achieving this by 2015. The plan also goes beyond eliminating net greenhouse gas emissions, laying out a vision for how we can incorporate sustainability into both our academics and community engagement.

While this is separate from Father Engh's strategic plan initiative, this action plan fits in very well with the overall vision of sustainability laid out in Father Engh's inaugural speech.

Santa Clara's action plan is due to the ACUPCC on Sept 15, 2009. To make the process as inclusive as possible, please help us by reading and commenting on this document. Please share your thoughts and ideas at this link:

The University Sustainability Council will collect and review all comments and make every effort to incorporate your ideas into this document.

    Sincerely,
    Leslie Gray and Joe Sugg
    Sustainability Council Co-chairs

*Climate neutrality is defined as zero net greenhouse gas emissions.
