Below you will find a list of all food & fund drive activities organized in partnership with SCU Campus Ministry, the University Library, Bon Appetit, and the ACCESS card office.
Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties is a private non-profit organization that collects and distributes more than 30 million pounds of food each year to low-income children, adults and seniors. The Food Bank currently serves an average of 176,000 individuals each month. Of those they serve, 67 percent are families with children and 12percent are senior citizens.
If you would like to contribute in one or many ways to this spring's Food and Fund Drive, please see how you can get involved below:
Share Your Lunch. Now until August 31. Summer is the season of childhood hunger. Every $1 donated at ShareYourLunch.net provides a nutritious meal for two children. Under "Donor Type" choose "Schools" and then under "Organization Name" choose "Santa Clara University."
Food 4 Fines. Now through June 11. Here is how Food 4 Fines works: for each can of food you donate the library will waive $2.00 of your fines. Of course, you don't need fines to donate food. We sure would love to see our 8 barrels filled to the rim so that folks would get to enjoy meals during the summer. We can do it! Students from the residence halls can also drop off any leftover food they might have in the library's barrels.
Cellar Market Drop-off Location. Now through June 11. There are several barrels outside the cellar market that anyone can use for non-perishable food donations.
ACCESS Donations. Now to June 7. Use your dining points to help relieve hunger locally by donating $10, $25, or $50 (not to exceed $50 for any one resident diner). If you are not a resident diner, no problem! Donations of any amount from non-residents are welcomed. All donations will be used to purchase food for donation directly to Second Harvest Food Bank.
Spring Sidewalk Sale. June 2 to June 3. Bulk items will be available for purchase from Bon Appetit and direct donation to Second Harvest Food Bank.
