For the third year in a row, SCU was noted as one of the most environmentally responsible colleges in the U.S. and Canada. The guide recognized SCU for offering sustainability-related courses in 26 departments, for its degree offerings, for winning third place in both 2007 and 2009 Solar Decathlons, and for its myriad projects and experiential learning opportunities centered on environmental sustainability and justice.

The Sustainability Champion Awards are designed to recognize individuals at SCU who go out of their way to develop a culture of sustainability. Individuals are nominated (by self-nomination or nomination by another) with a short description of why they should receive the award. Nomination are due on May 15th.

The Swap for Good is a clothing exchange. Donate clothes you may not want anymore this week and volunteers will sort everybody’s donations (students, staff, and faculty) over weekend. Shop/Swap for items on Monday. Take some time to start looking through your closet (and maybe your kids’ if you are a parent) and sort things that you haven’t worn in about six months...or longer.

The 3rd Annual Energy Challenge began on Sunday, January 15. Every residence hall is encouraged to reduce excess electricity consumption. The building that reduces the most, and the building with the most enthusiastic residents, win!
