RecycleMania is a ten-week competition between
colleges and universities throughout the US.
Which schools can reduce their waste and recycle
the most material?
  The contests include:

• the largest amount of recyclables per capita
• the largest amount of total recyclables,
• the least amount of trash per capita
• the highest recycling rate.

This will be Santa Clara University’s second year participating in the competition. The ten week competition will be broken up into three parts, each 3 weeks long (excluding spring break).
Weeks 1, 2 and 3: REDUCE
Weeks 4, 5, and 6: REUSE
Weeks 7, 8, and 10: RECYCLE

The SCU RecycleManiacs will host at least one event per week. Some of these activities include movie nights, dorm storms, basketball games, and tabling. Each time you attend an event, you will receive a raffle ticket, which can earn you prizes later in the competition! Check back soon to see each week's activities.

Become a RecycleManiac! If you are interested in becoming a RecycleManiac, please e-mail recycling@scu.edu, or come to a meeting on Thursday at 8:00 pm in the Commons at Kennedy Mall.

Earn points for your RLC when you attend RecycleMania events. Students who live off campus may participate as a member of their RLC. Faculty and Staff may also participate if they align themselves with an RLC for the entirety of the ten weeks. The winning RLC will receive a pizza party and trip to Sky High! (prizes sponsored by Associated Students)

If a RecycleManiac catches you exhibiting a sustainable behavior (recycling, using a reusable container, using reusable dishware in Benson, turning off lights, etc), you win! If you are caught green handed, you will receive a small prize and earn points for your RLC.

Another way to earn raffle tickets and points for your RLC is to volunteer as a Recycling Director. These volunteers attend campus events (such as athletic events and Preview Days) and help guests to sort their waste properly.
