We have several vinyl banners that we are hoping can be recycled. Do you have any suggestions on if this can be done and how?

Here is a neat organization that will take your old banners and make them into new products you can use as giveaways.

Resource Area for Teaching may accept them and turn them into teaching materials.

You might want to list them on the SCU classifieds web site, or ask staff members if they want to take them home for repurposing.

Reusing/repurposing is better than recycling, since it takes less energy.

The Basics:
  • Recycling: paper, plastic (#1-#7), glass, aluminum, tin. Look for BLUE.
  • Compost: food waste, biodegradable material, (if it was once alive, it can be composted!). Look for GREEN.
  • Landfill waste: everything else! Look for RED or BLACK.
