Looking to make your St. Patrick’s Day even more green? There are several ways you can take action this month to have a more sustainable holiday on the greenest day of the year.

First, if you are 21 or older and will be hitting the pubs this year, order your beer on tap rather than in a bottle to reduce the number of bottles you use this holiday.

No matter your age, you can also help to reduce waste and save money by reusing St. Patrick’s Day party favors and decorations from previous years, or by borrowing from a friend, rather than buying brand new items that you will likely only use once.

If you will be hosting a St. Patrick’s Day celebration, make sure that recycling bins are readily available for all bottles, cans, and red solo cups.

Finally, encourage all attendees to show their respect for people of Irish heritage by learning about the true cultural and religious background of the Feast of St. Patrick.
