 Fresh from the Forge Garden

The Forge Garden is the learning space for a new course in Spring Quarter, Forge Garden Practicum (ENVS 196). Organic Garden Manager Rose Madden, and ESS Faculty member Leslie Gray, are teaming up to offer this two-unit course about urban agriculture and food systems. The course includes hands-on skill development in sustainable food production, field trips to local urban farms and gardens, as well as discussions and reflections on research and readings around the subject.

This is an exciting opportunity for the Forge Garden to build a stronger connection with students who are passionate about urban agriculture and food justice. The course will also diversify students’ skill sets and enhance their global awareness. Students who complete the course will gain a comprehensive understanding of food production methods and food systems. This course is geared toward empowering the next generation of growers, educators, and food activists.

The two-unit course meets Tuesdays from 12:10 - 3:10pm at the Forge Garden. Contact theforge@scu.edu for more information.
