Did You Know?

Thursday, Jun. 2, 2011

Santa Clara County has one of the highest concentrations of toxic sites in the nation. SCU's environmental justice organization, Bronco Leaders of Environmental Justice Investigating Truth (B-LEJIT), hosted a Toxics Tour that educated the participants on why Santa Clara is home to so many toxic sites and what these sites look like today. B-LEJIT researched the history of the Santa Clara Valley, what the land was used for, what the land is used for today, and why these uses have resulted in such a high number of toxic sites. Members of B-LEJIT led a walking tour on Sunday, May 22nd to point out specific sites in the greater SCU area.
