What Can I Do?

Thursday, Jun. 2, 2011

Next time you move somewhere, consider what you really need first to reduce your consumption. Be careful during the year as you accumulate more stuff; buy less and donate more.

Moving into a house or back into the residence halls next year? Reuse your carpets, lamps and bedding come fall. Store your stuff at a nearby storage facility so you don't have transport items that take up unnecessary space and weight.

Look at the Sustainability Move Out web site for waste diversion information specific to your residence hall. You can recycle everything from old notebooks to electronic waste.

Goodwill donation drop-offs will be scattered throughout campus during finals week. Show your respect for those in need, by dropping off some of your old clothes. Plus, it will make packing up for summer much easier.
