Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world's largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. During one week each November, GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. Since its inception in 2008, GEW has grown to 155 countries with nearly 24,000 partner organizations planning more than 37,000 activities that directly engage more than 7 million people.

Santa Clara University received its highest-ever ranking from Forbes's 2011 list of the best colleges in America, three spots ahead of the University of California, Berkeley.

A Washington, DC-based think tank created the rankings based on a variety of criteria. They include post graduate success, student satisfaction, debt loads, rate of student default, and four-year graduation rate.

Santa Clara, the alma mater of former San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom (’89) and NBA point guard Steve Nash (’96), has been steadily rising in the rankings for years, according to the San Jose Mercury News .

Congratulations to Taryn Tsukayama for winning the Outstanding Computer Engineering Senior Award, and to Kevin Rowe and James Taguchi for winning the Computer Engineering Award for Technical Excellence.

The Outstanding Computer Engineering Senior Award is awarded to a senior by the faculty of the department based on academic standing, esprit de corps, and contribution to the department, school, and community. The Computer Engineering Award for Technical Excellence is awarded to those seniors who, in the judgment of the department faculty, have completed a capstone design project that is distinguished by an exceptionally high degree of technical and scholarly achievement.
