The story was picked up in more than 240 publications, Web sites, and online news sites across the country and the world. He was also quoted in the Wall Street Journal in a humorous front-page piece (picked up by several law blogs) about how some entertainment contracts now oblige signers to give away their rights “throughout the universe, in perpetuity.”

Tom Plante (psychology) was quoted by the New York Times about teenager group dynamics, for a story about the Richmond High School gang rape. He also wrote blog items for Psychology Today’s Web site about the unifying elements of meditation among various religions, and about ethics in psychology.

Kirk Hanson (Markkula Center) comments to the New York Times about the controversial lawsuit buy Skype founders during the sale to eBay were picked up by numerous other papers from the Lexington Dispatch to the Gainesville Sun. Hanson was also quoted in the Financial Times about IBM’s unimpressive handling of insider-trading accusations among its executives, and in two San Jose Mercury News stories: a Wilcox High School janitor who recruited teenagers for modeling (his comments were also quoted in the paper’s editorial on the subject) and allegations that former AMD CEO Hector Ruiz might have leaked insider information to Galleon.

James Balassone (Markkula) was quoted by Bloomberg about how the Ruiz allegations in the Galleon case appear to be outside the corporate norm.

Sharath Sury (finance) was quoted by the San Jose/Silicon Valley Business Journal about Stanford’s plans to sell $1 billion of assets.

A story about the importance of end-of-life planning quoted David Feldman (counseling psychology), and ran in numerous newspaper and TV news Web sites, including the Harford Courant and the Orlando Sun Sentinel.

Jerry Uelmen (Law School) was mentioned in the San Francisco Chronicle and elsewhere for his representation of a medical-marijuana user in a case involving flaws in San Francisco’s medicinal-pot ID card system.

Hoje Jo (finance) was cited in Financial Advisor for his co-authorship of an award-winning paper that found that consumer companies, though not industrial companies or corporations overall -- did better financially when they followed good corporate-governance principles.

Catherine Sandoval’s (Law School) study on the unchanged landscape for minority-owned radio stations – a hot topic for the FCC – was noted in the influential trade publication Communications Daily and other Web sites.

Meir Statman’s (finance) comments last month to the Edmonton Journal about how investors follow the wrong signs to gauge success continued to be picked up, appearing in numerous Canadian and international Web sites, including Emirates Business 24/7 and the Calgary Herald.

Elinore Burkhardt (Law School financial aid) was quoted in a San Francisco Business Times story about a new federal student loan program designed to give a break to public-service lawyers.

The San Jose Mercury News and several local Business Times publications noted the news that SCU was listed among the EPA’s top 20 universities for green-power purchases. The Business Times also quoted Lindsey Cromwell (ESI) about SCU’s commitment to double our green power purchases.

Marc Bousquet (English) was quoted in Inside Higher Ed about some public universities discussing privatization, or, as the story called it, “The Nuclear Option.”
