WorkshopsCounseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is available to assist you in designing and presenting a variety of workshops to meet your programming needs. We practice from a wellness perspective and support the university's mission to develop the whole person. We are also aware of the model for wellness used by the Office of Housing and Residential Life and can assist residential staff in meeting their goals. We recommend, especially for Fall quarter, programs dealing with adjustment and transitions, relationships (this includes alcohol and sexuality), body image and diversity. These are issues that if addressed early on in the year can prevent more serious problems from developing. Please contactCAPS to discuss any of the following workshop ideas. Musical Chairs:Regards personal values in relationships, sexual choices and skills of asserting those choices when it counts. Flying Solo:Independence. Nice word... But independence, leaving home or leaving a relationship, can also be scary. How do you negotiate this time of having to take care of yourself? Do You Treat Others Better Than You Treat Yourself?Assertiveness Training: Understand the differences between assertiveness and aggression, and nonassertiveness and politeness. Identify your own assertive, aggressive, nonassertive behavior. The role of violence in Men's/Women's relationships will also be explored. Dealing From A Distance:So you're the one in the family who has to listen to every problem that's happening at home.
