Major in Environmental Science

Interdisciplinary major that explores the natural science of environmental problems and solutions.

As an environmental science major at Santa Clara University, your course of study will have a natural science focus rooted in the Department of Environmental Studies and Science's efforts to foster environmental awareness, dialogue, and inquiry. As an environmental science major at Santa Clara University, you will have the opportunity to study abroad, conduct research, and participate in internships throughout the Bay Area. This Environmental Science degree offers the opportunity for students to choose a concentration in Applied Ecology or Water, Energy, and Technology, to gain more in-depth training in one dimension of this broad field.

  • Soil, Water, and Air
  • Principles of Microeconomics
  • World Geography
  • Ethical Issues and the Environment or Environmental Thought
  • Calculus and Analytic Geometry I or Calculus for Social Science
  • General Chemistry I-III
  • Two to three additional introductory courses in either biology, physics, or organic chemistry
