Major in French and Francophone Studies

Study the language, literature, and culture of France and French-speaking countries.

As a French and Francophone studies major at Santa Clara University, you will learn about various aspects of French culture, including cinema, conversation, and literature. Your course work will be supplemented by activities in an on-campus interactive, multimedia learning center. You'll also be able to participate in small conversation groups of five or six students under the direction of a native speaker or an advanced major. Study abroad opportunities can also enhance your undergraduate experience.

Major Requirements

  • Minimum of 40 quarter-units in upper division works in French language
  • Advanced French I & II
  • At least one course in French or Francophone literature
  • Additional electives in French or Francophone studies to total 40 quarter-units
