Major in Psychology

A comprehensive approach to understanding human behavior with exposure to many subfields of pyschological study.

As a psychology major at Santa Clara University you will acquire a broad background for understanding behavior through exposure to many of the subfields within the discipline of psychology.

You will take classes in five broad areas: biological, developmental, applied (i.e., clinical, health, industrial/organizational), social/personality, learning/cognition/perception. You will also have, if you choose, the opportunity to participate in psychological research in any of these areas working closely with both peers and faculty. You may also gain clinical experience by working with people with a wide variety of counseling needs at local agencies. In addition to clinical and counseling settings, psychology majors are in demand in business and industry, hospital and health facilities, and educational institutions at all levels. Many psychology students find that their broad liberal arts education paves the way to medical, law, and other professional schools as well as numerous and diverse career directions.
