Major in Spanish Studies

Study the language, literature, and culture of Spanish-speaking countries.

As a Spanish studies major at Santa Clara University, you will hone your language skills through specialized work in conversation, composition, civilization and culture, literature, linguistics, cinema, and special topics. Personal contact between students and faculty is strongly encouraged and class sizes are small, allowing you to get to know and learn from one another. Language clubs provide opportunities for activities such as cultural exchanges, films, colloquia, speakers, and social activities. Extensive language training is a highly desirable qualification for most professions, particularly business, law, medicine, and teaching. The travel industry, banking and financial services, credit bureaus, and marketing and advertising fields all need people who are multilingual.
