Director of International Admission
Having lived abroad for my childhood and traveling to over 50 countries, my enjoyment in working with international students at the secondary and university levels is natural, energizing and a part of whom I am. As Santa Clara seeks to offer our students a deeper understanding of global affairs in their work and life, I see my role in international admissions as a vehicle for talented students from abroad to consider joining our efforts.
1. How do you define a great application?
A great application is one that the student felt proud to submit! The academic achievement is evident and equally complimented with a voice, passion, drive or resilience, yet balanced with humbleness and compassion. Submitting your application with care and evidence of hard work (throughout high school years) are all attributes in an application that help me understand a student's potential for success at SCU.
2. What inspires your work?
Students! I enjoy celebrating their successes and watching them discover and continue to be curious about the world around them. I also find my colleagues in international college counseling inspirational as they work tirelessly to guide and educate students through all the global options for higher education; their passion and focus on keeping in mind the best interest of their students is what makes many inspirational leaders in the field of international education.
3. What do you do in your spare time?
Take advantage of the gorgeous weather and spend as much time outdoors exploring and enjoying all that the Bay Area offers with friends and family!
4. What is your favorite song?
I don't have a favorite, but I do love singing along to any song I know on the radio in my car (when I am alone).
5. What brought you to SCU?
Having worked over a decade in higher education, SCU?s mission and Jesuit philosophy of educating the whole person is a supportive environment that I believe can be a great ?fit? for international students, global nomads, TCKs or any passport stamp collector. The campus community, location and weather all influenced my decision to join SCU. I look forward being a resource to those students and families from overseas who are considering SCU- and maybe meeting you somewhere in the world or on campus!
