Which airport should I fly into?

The San Jose International Airport (SJC) is the most convenient airport to fly into. It is less than five miles away from campus. Other options include the San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK) which are both about 40 miles from Santa Clara University.

How can I get from the airport to campus?

From San Jose International Airport, several means of transportation to our campus are available. The Airport Flyer is a free shuttle that takes you from the San Jose International Airport to the Santa Clara Caltrain station, which is across the street from the main entrance to campus. (Please note: The Route 10 Airport Flyer has two directions. Please use Route 10: Santa Clara Caltrain.)

You can also take a cab from the San Jose International Airport to our campus. This option will cost approximately $15. Cabs are readily available outside the terminals. From San Francisco International Airport, you can either ride public transportation, take a shuttle, or drive. Caltrain provides rail service between San Francisco and San Jose. BART connects SFO to the Caltrain rail system at the Millbrae Station. When on Caltrain, be sure to travel southbound and exit at Santa Clara Caltrain Station. You will arrive in front of campus.

Public transportation is more difficult to navigate from Oakland International Airport. A rental car, shuttle, or expensive taxi ride are the better options.

Where and how can I park on campus?

If you arrive between 8 and 9 a.m., representatives will be at the front entrance to greet and direct you. If you arrive after that time, please follow posted event signs for complimentary parking.

Are overnight accommodations provided?

Because of the large number of Preview Days attendees, the University is unable to coordinate on-campus accommodations. For nearby accommodations, please see our listing of nearby hotels. The most convenient hotel, Candlewood Suites, is located just across the street from our main entrance.

Where do we go when we arrive?

Between 8 and 9 a.m., representatives will direct you from the front entrance to parking and check-in. If you arrive after 9 a.m., please visit the Undergraduate Admission office in Varsi Hall or consult our campus signs for check-in locations.

Will attending this event affect my financial aid award?

Attending or not attending any SCU admitted student event has no bearing on financial aid awards or opportunities. The events are designed to give students the opportunity to experience what it is like to be a student at Santa Clara University.
All admitted students will be notified about their financial aid awards by the beginning of April.

The Web site says the RSVP deadline has passed. Now what?

Please call the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 408-554-4700 to inquire about available space.

Can parents come?

Preview Days are open to all admitted students and their families and are especially useful if you haven’t yet decided whether you will enroll at SCU. Some of the sessions that will be available to students and families are presentations from the College of Arts & Sciences, the Leavey School of Business, and the School of Engineering. There will also be housing tours and presentations from various academic departments and programs.
