Dining Services

SCU Dining Services offers a variety of dining options throughout the day on campus to serve both the resident and commuter student community. Sip a cup of coffee in the patio, enjoy a pizza late at night watching a show, make a waffle for breakfast, or take groceries back to your room. We supply a great range of choices. You decide when and where to eat, based on your preference and schedule.

  • Market Square – Located in the Benson Memorial Center and open continuously from morning until early evening, Market Square lets you choose from a wide range of choices at multiple chef stations for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every day, you can decide between international cuisine selections, home-style, grill, deli, and salad bar options, plus daily specials.
  • Mission Bakery + Café – Our gourmet bistro off the Benson Center patio features a variety of signature Barefoot coffees as well as other hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, daily salad specials, lunch and dinner entrees, and desserts.
  • The Bronco – Your late-night dining option in Benson Center. The Bronco is the place to socialize, enjoy regular entertainment, and satisfy your hunger with an oven-toasted sandwich or brick oven pizza.
  • Cadence Cyber Cafe – Located in Lucas Hall, Jump Start offers design your own smoothies, coffee, espresso, and a variety of grab-and-go meal options from 7:45am until 6pm weekdays and from noon until 6pm on weekends.
  • Cellar Market – Our on-campus mini-market is open mid-day until midnight during the week, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends. Located on the lower level of Benson Memorial Center, the Cellar Market features beverages, fresh produce, organic and vegetarian items, breakfast foods, and other grocery items to stock in your room.
  • Sunstream Cafe – Located at the entrance to the Learning Commons, Technology Center, and Library, the Sunstream Cafe is the place to grab an energizing snack, quick and healthy lunch and dinner, or late night coffee or espresso drink.
Vegetarian, Vegan, and Other Special Dietary Needs

Our chefs can create custom dishes for you at our many dining locations. Talk to an SCU Dining Services Manager if you have medical or dietary restrictions. Everything possible will be done to meet your special needs. SCU also has a commitment to providing fresh, organic, and local ingredients whenever possible to create healthy food while following sustainable practices and fostering ecological awareness.

Dining Plans

All resident students will select their Resident Dining Plan as they complete their housing contract; for first-year students, this will be after you have been admitted to SCU and decided to live on campus. Our dining plans are conveniently based on points, which can be spent anywhere on campus throughout the quarter, when and where you prefer. Non-resident students can also enjoy the convenience of a dining plan—and an 8.25% savings on food purchases—by opening a Dining Plus Plan at any time during the academic year; resident students can also use Dining Plus as a supplement to their existing plan. All dining plans may be used at all campus dining locations and the Cellar Market. More information about dining plans and how points work can be found on the Housing Web site.

Flex Accounts

Santa Clara students can get extra flexibility by opening an ACCESS Flex Account, a debit account that allows you to make purchases at different locations on and off campus without carrying cash. Flex debit accounts last as long as an account balance exists, and you (or your parents) can add money at any time online or at the ACCESS Card Office in Benson Center. Although this account does not get you a discount at on-campus locations like a dining plan, it’s extremely versatile because it can be used at more than 30 locations off campus, in vending machines, at the bookstore, for laundry and copy machines, and at campus ticket offices. Check out the off-campus merchants accepting ACCESS Flex payments.
