Residence Halls and RLCs

Santa Clara has 10 residence halls for undergraduates, plus some University-operated apartment complexes for juniors, seniors, and graduate students. During your first year, we definitely recommend you live on campus-almost all freshmen do. It's the best way to learn your way around, make friends who have common interests (and class schedules), and experience everything Santa Clara offers. About half of the undergraduate students at SCU live on campus for all four years.

As a freshman, you will be assigned to a residence hall and roommate based on your Residential Learning Community (RLC). After your first year, you can request a change in RLC and in roommates, but your residence hall will always be determined by which RLC you belong to.

Most of the residence halls have traditional double rooms and large common bathrooms-we've got pictures and floor plans for each building. All the rooms come with an extra-long twin bed, closet space, a chest of drawers, desks, and chairs. To help you make your room your home base for work (and play), there are high-speed Internet connections and a cable TV hookup in every room, and networked laser printers in each building.

And don't worry about the snooze button: Santa Clara's residence halls are all in the main campus area, so you're never more than a short walk away from the bookstore, the dining hall, or that 9 a.m. class. Find out how close each hall is to the rest of campus.
