Bob Finocchio '73
Three days after signing on as chief executive officer of a troubled tech company, Bob Finocchio faced the toughest decision of his career: Should he stay at the helm of a business in even greater ethical and financial turmoil than he had imagined, or should he resign?
He stayed, and by the time he handed the reins to a new CEO in 1999, he had taken the company from "near death" to profitability. Finocchio says Santa Clara gave him the ethical foundation and intellectual resources to make the hard decisions. Now he has a dream for Santa Clara: a 21st century library that gives students and faculty the resources to innovate and achieve. |
