A day in the life: Santa Clara is a busy place, between classes, club meetings, lectures, plays, art exhibits, volunteering, studying… oh, and eating and sleeping. Beginning on day one, if you want to get involved, there will be an opportunity in your RLC or a student club, or maybe you’ll start your own group. It’s all part of opening yourself to everything new, familiar, and cool. You probably can’t do it all, but why not try? The student newspaper, yearbook, literary magazine, and radio station give you a voice. Or you can find a way to give a voice to others—one of the biggest groups on campus is the Santa Clara Community Action Program, a volunteer service organization. Through SCCAP, you can support the community in ways that use your talents and interests, like tutoring or building homes. Get into it.There are more than 100 official student organizations here. Join a multicultural club, the student government, and a comedy troupe, or work for the student newspaper, the accounting association, and the Green Club. They all welcome freshmen! |
Go play: We don’t need to tell you twice! SCU has been called one of the fittest colleges in the nation, with more than 1,200 people using the Pat Malley Fitness and Recreation Center every day. This lively, 45,000-square-foot facility has an indoor gym, weight rooms, basketball courts, an outdoor swimming pool, and rooms for fitness classes. Every year, we add more intramural and club sports teams to the roster. And there’s always lots of open space to just throw a ball around. |
