Learning Commons and Library: By the time you get here, SCU will have a brand new library. The $90 million, 194,000-square-foot facility opens in 2008 complete with computer labs and wireless networks, private study spaces and group presentation rooms, a café, the University’s extensive archives, and specialty multimedia labs. And books, of course. You’ll have access to almost a million volumes, periodicals, and electronic documents. University President Locatelli called the library our “actual and symbolic center for excellence in research, teaching, learning, and living.” You can tell we take studying seriously.

Support centers: Your coursework will be demanding. But that’s why you’re here, to learn and be challenged. At Santa Clara, you’re never in it alone. The John B. Drahmann Academic Advising and Learning Resources Center offers tutoring, learning skills development, academic advice, visa and immigration information for international students, and any accommodation required for certified physical or learning disabilities. You’ll also find study groups to join in your Residential Learning Community and with other friends in your major.

So how do you take the whole college experience, both academic and student life activities, and translate that into careers and life choices? The Career Center at Santa Clara is a great resource for internships, summer placements, part-time jobs, full-time jobs, and lifetime career counseling. More than 100 local employers are on campus regularly to recruit SCU students for jobs at Silicon Valley tech companies like eBay and Lockheed Martin, at the San Francisco offices of big businesses like Bank of America or Gap, and at corporate locations across the country. Even after you graduate, you can always call the Career Center for advice or to find Santa Clara alumni to come work for you.
