Engineering with a Mission
With SCU celebrating the centennial of its School of Engineering this year, the theme of the sixth annual President’s Speaker Series will be “Engineering with a Mission.” Intel CEO Paul Otelini will open the series this year during the Grand Reunion Weekend on Thursday, October 6, 2011, in Mayer Theatre at 7:30 p.m. He will center his remarks on the challenges of the innovation imperative to create and extend computing technology to connect and enrich the lives of every person on earth.
At 7:30 p.m. on January 26, 2012, in the Mayer Theatre, Steve Wozniak will join computer engineering Associate Professor Ahmed Amer in conversation. “The Woz” invented the Apple II computer, which included innovations such as a keyboard, a disk drive, color graphics, and a central processing unit.
On April 5, 2012, roboticist/inventor/researcher/teacher James McLurkin will take the podium at 7:30 p.m. in Mayer Theatre to present “Dances with Robots: The Story of One Engineer, 112 Little Robots, and the Toys, Insects, and Star Wars Movies that Made it all Possible.”
