With the inaugural season of SCUPresents at Santa Clara University starting this fall, performing arts patrons will be able to enjoy the talents of both academic and professional artists.
“The goal of SCUPresents is to not only create art in an academic setting to be used to educate, engage, and entertain our students and community, but to also present world-class artists,” explains Butch Coyne, director of the SCU Center of Performing Arts.
Award-winning actor/director/playwright Frank Ferrante takes the stage in Mayer Theatre on October 15, recreating the comedy of Groucho Marx in “An Evening with Groucho.”
On November 4-12, it’s the students’ turn for the Mayer Theatre as they perform the doo-wop musical “Little Shop of Horrors.”
Faculty provide the talent for the Teresa McCollough and Wet Ink Ensemble featuring commissioned work by Sally Mitchell on November 11 in the Recital Hall.
The Fall Orchestra Concert on November 17 in the Mission will feature winners of the Concerto/Aria competition.
The ever-popular “Festival of Lights” Choral Concert will brighten the Mission on December 2 and 3.
