REAFFIRMATION OF ACCREDITATION
SANTA CLARA UNIVERSITY

Santa Clara University began the process of reaffirmation of accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in 2007.  Under the WASC review process each institution is asked to propose a self study focusing on themes or issues central to its own mission and institutional context.  WASC asks each institution to be particularly attentive to educational effectiveness in the self study process.

Santa Clara’s Institutional Proposal, submitted in Spring 2007, will guide a process of self study lasting four years.  A Capacity and Preparatory Review is scheduled for Fall 2009, and an Educational Effectiveness Review is scheduled for Spring 2011.

Santa Clara University has proposed to focus on the following three themes in its self study:  Educating for Competence, Conscience, and Compassion; Supporting the Teaching Scholar Model; and Promoting a Community of Inclusive Excellence.

The process will be supervised by a WASC Self Study Steering Committee chaired by Vice Provost Diane Jonte-Pace. Sub-Committees will take responsibility for the three themes. Additional faculty, staff, and students will be consulted during the process.

The University community is invited to participate in the WASC reaccreditation process. Announcements will be distributed regularly and documents will be posted on this website.
