Firefox 10 ESR will update to version 17, unless you have turned off auto-updating in Firefox. Version 17 may introduce problems with copying/pasting text in the Commonspot text editor. If you need to re-install FF 10 ESR, you can find it here:

You can change how Firefox handles auto-updating via the Options (Windows) or Preferences (Mac) > Advanced tab. By default, it would be set to automatically install updates.

 The option to include a Vimeo or Youtube video in the blog's text block is now available in the SCM blog. To embed a video, you'd use a shortcode similar to those used in Wordpress.

Another new theme has been added to the Blog element to display a list of blog posts using the 'accordion' theme. To use this, edit the Theme setting for your blog and update the Custom Properties for the page to use jQuery (that's in the Settings section of the Custom Properties form).

Site administrators can now clear subsite cache on each of the www production servers using this new form: http://cms.scu.edu/clearcache. If your Commonspot ID does not allow you to access this form, or your subsites are not listed, please contact Russ or Brian.

 You can now include blog posts in the HTML Email template by setting the blog theme to "HTML Email". This setting will depend on your blog being configured to group blog posts by publication. This theme will display any featured blog post in the publication, or the most recent blog post as a main feature, with the remaining posts listed below.

You may notice some links to email addresses (those using the mailto: prefix) using Groupwise as the default email client in your web browser. Here are instructions for changing this to use GMail: http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=10966

 The survey form can now be configured to set a start and end time along with the date.

A new element has been added to the Content Well category which can be used to add a Lightbox display view to content linked from a Commonspot page. To use this element, add the “lightbox” style class to any element that contains links to content you want displayed in this manner, and then add and configure the Lightbox Display element on that page.

The blog system now includes the capability of displaying video hosted on Vimeo and image sets on Flickr. To include either, use the New Blog Post form and add the Vimeo or Flickr set URL to the Images/Media section.

The new version of Commonspot is not compatible with Firefox 11. If you are encountering bugs when using FIrefox 11 in a Commonspot authoring session, we recommend installing Firefox 10 ESR. This version of Firefox will be compatible with the current and future releases of Commonspot.
