Replication schedule - another update

The hourly schedule for replication has been revised again. Here's where it stands now:

Replication starts on the hour, between 6am and 8pm.

Replication packets are applied on the www servers between 10 and 15 minutes past the hour.

So when your content is published on the authoring server, expect to see it on the www servers by 15 minutes past the next hour.

Replication schedule updated

We're now running on the same schedule that was in place prior to the Commonspot 6 upgrade. It runs daily on an hourly schedule starting at 6 am and ending at 8 pm.

Commonspot 6 service pack installed

Our Commonspot installation was updated on Tuesday morning. This package included a number of bug fixes, and enabled support for Firefox 10 ESR.  This "extended support release" for Firefox is the version that will be supported in Commonspot for the next year, and will be maintained in a stable state by Mozilla.

Other versions of Firefox will update automatically, and will likely have conflicts with Commonspot's authoring interface. If you're using Firefox for Commonspot authoring, we recommend installing Firefox 10 ESR.

Commonspot authoring offline on Monday March 26 at 5pm

We will begin preparing the servers for the Coldfusion 9 and Commonspot 6 upgrade beginning at 5pm on Monday, March 26th. At that time, authoring access to the cms server will be turned off, and we will run a final replication to the www servers. Authoring will be re-enabled during the day on Tuesday, when all four of the staging and production servers have been upgraded. Plan ahead! If you have anything that needs to be online on Tuesday, make sure you have that published before 5pm on Monday.

Linkedin and Google +1 sharing

We've added two new widgets to the Page Tools element gallery categor; a Linkedin Share button, and a Google +1 button. You can use these on any page or template - if you're using the blog system and have configured your blog to use the "Share This" buttons, these two new options will be included automatically.

Commonspot upgrade scheduled for March 27

The long-awaited upgrade to Commonspot 6 will be happening on Tuesday, March 27. In advance of this change, please review the Introduction to Commonspot 6 web site.

Picasa Slideshow Element

A new element has been added to the Content Well element gallery category.  If you have public images in a Picasa album, you can use this element to display the album as a slideshow in a Commonspot page.

A few Commonspot blog updates

The interface to the Commonspot Blog Manager has been updated, allowing for more space to display the text editor.  The editor's toolbar includes a few more options (indent/outdent/table), and the summary text field will display the character count when entering text.

Twitter widget now supports hashtags

The Twitter widget can now be used to display content based on a search keyword or hashtag, along with Twitter profile content.

Embedding a form created in Google Docs

A new element has been added that will allow you to embed a form created in Google Docs within a Commonspot page.  The element requires a form ID, which is provided by Google in the embed HTML code, and has optional height and width configuration settings.  Look for the "Google Docs Form" element in the Content Well element gallery category.
