  • Recommendation for naming pages or files

    Friday, Jul. 26, 2013

When creating a page or uploading a file in Commonspot, you're asked to fill the "Name" field. This field is what browsers will see in the page or file URL, not the title of the page. It is recommended to use all lower-case, standard alpha-numeric (a-z, 0-9) characters for the "Name" field, without blank spaces. The dash and underscore characters can be used, but avoid other punctuation such as apostrophe, period, or quote marks, or characters from other language sets.

Have you encountered this problem?  You've made a change to the navigation menu in your site's template, but you don't see that change reflected on one or more pages in your site.  This usually results from page-level edits interfering with the ability of that page to inherit template-based changes.  A Step-By-Step Guide page has been added that describes how this problem can be corrected.
