How to login to CommonSpot

System Login

The CommonSpot system, where Web sites are created and updated, resides in its own server.  This server is located by replacing 'www' with 'cms'.  For example, once you have changed 'www.scu.edu' to 'cms.scu.edu' you have left the Web server and entered the CMS or content management system server.

In order to login to your own Web site within CommonSpot, type the following URL into your browser:

  • cms.scu.edu/your site name or URL/login.cfm

For example, the philosophy department would have the following login URL:

  • cms.scu.edu/cas/philosophy/login.cfm

*Note: the /cas/ before /philosophy/ refers to the College of Arts and Sciences.  It is important you remember your Web site's exact URL.

You should then receive a page prompting you to enter your ID and password.  New users should have received an e-mail message containing their ID and password.  If you have not received this e-mail, send an e-mail inquiry to Melissa Eckel.

Subsite Administration Login

Site Administrators are able to login to the subsite administration Web site which enables them to administer security, and set up subsites (or folders) within their site.

In order to login to the Subsite Administration Web site, type the following URL into your browser:

  •   http://cms.scu.edu/your site name or URL/admin.cfm

For example, the philosophy department site administrator would have the following login URL:

*Note: the /cas/ before /philosophy/ refers to the College of Arts and Sciences.  It is important you remember your Web site's exact URL.
