Design Resources

The SCU Web site re-launched with a new design in September 2007.  This page includes links to various design resources for SCU Web publishers, and others with an interest in the redesign project.
  • iconTemplates in the New Design

The site design offers multiple template options for the SCU home page and top-level Directory and Portal pages, as well as several options for schools, departments, offices, and other SCU Web sites.
  • iconElement Display Options, Styles, and the Redesign Color Palette

Some new and updated display options are available in the new site design:
  • iconSubsite Navigation Options

The new design includes the option of developing custom site navigation elements for school home pages, and departments within a school site.  You can also include secondary navigation menus in the left and right columns of a page or template.
  • iconImages

    • Subsite Title Image Collection
The site designer has created several dozen subsite title images, for use in applying a new template option to an existing site.
    • Title Image Creator
A Web-based utility is available for Commonspot users to create a subsite title image.
    • Image Optimization
The site design includes width limits for the left, center, and right columns. A Web-bsaed image editing utility is available for use in re-sizing images to fit within the fixed-width layout.
  • iconTable Formatting Options

Using Commonspot's text editor, you can modify table formatting by changing border settings, applying a style class, or using a custom script to apply alternating bands of background color to table rows.
  • iconSites Hosted Outside SCU

Design resources are available for developers of SCU-related Web sites that are not managed within the Commonspot CMS.
  • iconRedesign Project Documentation

Documentation of the redesign project describes the initial testing, discover, planning, and design phases.
