  • AJ Howell-Williams

    Senior Associate Director

    A.J. is a native of San Jose, CA, but has spent time in each of the four corners of the country. A former transfer student and athlete, A.J. oversees the Transfer process and is the Admission liaison for Athletics recruitment. An admissions veteran, A.J. has worked in higher education for over a decade and is a published author on race and societal issues.

  • Becky Konowicz

    Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Admission, Director of International Admission

    Having lived abroad and traveled to over 50 countries, Becky's enjoyment in working with international students at the secondary and university levels is natural, energizing and a part of her life's work. Working with international students in admissions since 2004, she has worked at DePauw, Chapman and Salve Regina before arriving at Santa Clara in 2013. As Director of International Admissions, she serves in a leadership capacity in the admission office as the University moves forward in its strategic goal to enhance global engagement. Becky currently serves on the Executive Board for the International Association for College Admission Counseling.

  • Betel Trephan

    Assistant Director

    Betel is originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. When she was 11 years old, her parents moved her family to Boston, MA. Access to a great education was the motivating factor, and although the transition was painful, Betel is glad her parents made the decision because it ignited her passion for education. Betel is excited to guide prospective students through the college admission process at Santa Clara University and advocate for greater access and support for historically underrepresented students as part of the diversity/new initiatives team.

  • Danielle Wenzel

    Senior Associate Director

    Danielle is originally from the Napa Valley area of Northern California. While completing her undergraduate studies, she worked in the Financial Aid Office where she was introduced to the Admissions world. She has over 11 years of experience in higher education and has been with the Undergraduate Admission Office at Santa Clara University since 2006. She currently oversees all marketing and communication efforts for the office, serves as a liaison for several departments on campus and is passionate about technology in higher education.

  • Denise Castillo Chavez

    Assistant Director

    Denise hails from the town of Windsor, California. During her time as an undergraduate at SCU, she worked in the Undergraduate Admission Office as a Student Ambassador, served in leadership roles with the Multicultural Center, and studied abroad through Casa de la Solidaridad in El Salvador. These experiences further fueled her passion for transformative learning, education, and advocacy. As an Assistant Director, she supports students to achieve their goals of pursuing higher education at Santa Clara University, with a focus on supporting first-generation and historically underrepresented students.

  • Eddie Kelinsky

    Assistant Director

    Eddie was born and raised in Pasadena, CA, before attending Santa Clara University as an undergraduate. While attending, he was heavily involved in student life, including new student orientation, philanthropy, student government, and improv comedy. He received his BS in Environmental Studies and Political Science; as a member of the admissions team, he is excited to help future Broncos find their home at SCU. He also coordinates the ShadowSCU program and visitor services, ensuring that prospective students and their families leave campus with a student's perspective of student life, campus culture, and the admissions process.

  • Eryn Olson

    Assistant Director

    Born and raised in a beach suburb of Los Angeles, Eryn moved up to northern California to start her life as a Bronco in 2012. While working for the Santa Clara Magazine, she enjoyed meeting and writing about current students and alumni. Now, as Assistant Director in Undergraduate Admission, she is eager to help prospective students and families see if SCU fits as part of their life story, too.

  • Eva Blanco Masias

    Dean of Undergraduate Admission

    Eva has been with the Undergraduate Admission Office since 2003, formerly serving as Senior Associate Dean of Undergraduate Admission. She is responsible for leading admission and recruitment efforts of first-year and transfer students, including oversight of all marketing and technology associated with enrolling each incoming class. Eva worked for ten years in Latin American and Hispanic media and has served on several boards and committees of local and national non-profit organizations. Eva who hails from Venice Beach, has also lived in New Haven, Miami, and now resides in San Jose with her husband and daughter.

  • Grace Hartman

    Senior Associate Director

    Grace is originally from East Contra Costa County in Northern California. Prior to coming Santa Clara University in 2012, she worked at her alma mater, Notre Dame de Namur University, in the Undergraduate Admission Office. At Santa Clara, she currently oversees all aspects of the visit experience, the ShadowSCU program and spends most of her time working with the Student Ambassadors who sit on panels and lead campus tours.

  • Lorenzo Gamboa

    Senior Associate Director

    Lorenzo is originally from a very small town with eight graduating seniors in his public high school class. Coming from a close-knit community, he is familiar with the assumptions and fears one may have when considering leaving town for college. Reflecting on his own journey of college he aspires to clarify the daunting experience for other first generation students that he once faced as a first generation scholar himself. Lorenzo has over ten years of experience in college advising and currently oversees new initiatives for the office of admission.

  • Mike Sexton

    Vice President for Enrollment Management

    Most people in California cannot understand how Mike survived growing up in Buffalo, New York. After teaching high school math and coaching soccer in New Hampshire, Mike went to graduate school and began his admission career in 1979. Since then, he has worked at Juniata, Rhodes and Lewis & Clark Colleges before arriving at Santa Clara in 2009. As VP for Enrollment Management, he serves on the president's cabinet and oversees the operations of undergraduate admission, university financial aid and enrollment services.

  • Paola Garcia-Vega

    Assistant Director

    Paola grew up in the Bay Area prior to attending SCU for her undergraduate studies. She is now an Assistant Director in the Undergraduate Admission Office. She has always been interested in supporting students and families through the process of higher education. In her current role in admissions, she works closely with the Alumni Office as the alumni liaison. She is also committed to working with first generation college students and undocumented students.

  • Rosalie Saladzius

    Senior Associate Director of International Admission

    Rosalie is originally from Syracuse, New York. After working in a K-12 school counseling environment, she transitioned into higher education. Rosalie has spent the last 4 years working with bachelors, masters and doctoral degree seeking students. She currently coordinates our annual spring Preview Days and serves as a liaison for the Leavey School of Business.
