Forging a Path

When the former hairstylist went looking for a therapist who could relate to her experience as a Black woman, she came up short. In Remembrance: Marygrace Colby ’91
The Santa Clara family mourns the loss of Marygrace Colby ’91 who passed on Jan. 17, 2022. Colby joined Santa Clara Athletics in 1963 to oversee the women’s recreational athletics program. Despite pushback from many critics at the time, Colby pressed forward and laid the groundwork for a program that would elevate and celebrate women in sports. Read more about her legacy »
