Inauguration of Kevin O’Brien, S.J.

Join us in October for a weeklong celebration of Santa Clara University culminating in the inauguration of our 29th president, Kevin O’Brien, S.J. SCU will host a range of events that encourages students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends to reflect on the values of our great University and the promise of its future. The festivities will be highlighted by the Inaugural Mass at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, followed by the Inauguration at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11. All are invited to attend. The Physics of Surfing

Associate Professor of Physics Phil Kesten explains the science of surfing in Illuminate, while Rob Covich, Program Associate in Undergraduate Studies—and an experienced surfer—provides useful insights.

Sinatra Artist-in-Residence

Grammy-winning singer and musician Rhiannon Giddens joins SCU as the 2019-2020 Frank Sinatra Chair in the Performing Arts. Her work in an array of genresfrom fiddle to folk to operaaddresses themes that reflect SCU values.
