Artist's Statement

In this body of work, I am examining from the perspective of a woman three emotions: fear, passion, and anxiety. I've employed images from the 1900s in contrast with drawings, to reveal what was then and is now considered socially acceptable female self-expression. The 1900’s imagery attempts to expose dated expectations. The women in the drawings are challenging societal norms, seeking liberation and laboring for self-actualization.
